Rice Exports
India has been in the fore front in exporting Rice....Global rice exports will go up 2 percent to 37.3 million metric tons (MT) for 2012 despite two of the biggest rice importers—the Philippines and Indonesia—curbing their importation
Nigeria, which is the world's biggest rice importer according to data from the Asian Development Bank, will increase its purchases by 17 percent on year to a record 2.8 million tons.
Other countries in the Near East and Africa such as Iran, Brazil, and Venezuela will also see increases in their rice imports this year

Bullish trend continues in aromatic rice
Basmati Rice commands attractive prices...
Pusa-1121 (steam) increased by Rs 500 to Rs 6,400-6,500, while Pusa-1121 (sela) sold at Rs 5,500 a quintal, up Rs 375 from the previous level.
Pure basmati (raw) rose by Rs 800 and quoted at Rs 6,500-6,600, while pure basmati (sela) ruled at around at Rs 5,400 a quintal, up Rs 200 from the previous level.
Duplicate basmati remained unchanged at Rs 4,900-5,000 a quintal.

Rice Flake is locally known by many names like, aval, avalakki, poha, chewda and beaten rice.
Flaked rice is found suitable to prepare many products, bhath and chewda deep fried product such as seasoned mixture, energy/weaning food, tamarind bhath, upmav, sweet savoury pongal, sweet gravy, etc.
The manufacturing involve in the process are cleaning, soaking, roasting, shelling, polishing, flaking, sieving and drying
Machinery required are easily available in India with production capacity ranging from 400kg/hour to 800 kg / hour
Rice flake is being consumed by all income groups and the demand for the same is ever increasing.
The market for flaked rice will predominantly consist at buyers from group especially of urban and semi-urban areas. Even the people of low-income group can also buy as the products are directly consumed along with jaggery and from coconut pieces by rural folk

India has the potential to produce 13 lakh tons of Rice Bran Oil
The present production is only about 9 lakh tons
3 Lakh tons out of 13 lakh tons is consumed by Vanaspathy Industry
or blended with sunflower oil and corn oils solded as Branded products
India,China, Japan, Myanamar are major producers of Ric Bran Oil in the world
contributing 95% of Global production
India is the largest Importer of Rice Bran Oil followed by Japan !
