Grade USDA No.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or sample grade. These are defined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Quality Percentage broken kernels acceptable, such as 4 percent or 15 percent. The percentage acceptable should be compatible with the grade designated.
Type Long grain, medium grain, or short grain.
Milling and Form Rough, brown (cargo), regular-milled and parboiled are indications of form. The degree of milling would be designated by phrases such as lightly- milled, wel-milled, etc.
Quantity Total quantity desired and if partial shipments are desired. For example: 20,000 metric tons in four 5,000-ton shipments.
Delivery Information This includes schedules and ports, what delivery dates are required.
Packaging These requirements may be anywhere from a shipload full of bulk (loose) rice to 1-kg retail boxes, with 50-kg or 100-pound bags being common sizes. Most mills can arrange for any specified kind of packaging, including printing the label in any language.
Quotation Information Designate F.G.B., F.A.S., C&F, or C.I.F.
Payment Information Method of payment, such as Letter of Credit, Sight Draft, or Cash Against Documents.
Firm Name and Type Indicate if purchaser is an agent, broker, etc. Person(s) to contact, address, fax, or telephone number.
