US rejects six 'filthy' basmati shipments- Commodities-Markets-The Economic Times: "According to US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), six Indian consignments of basmati rice, both raw and parboiled, have been rejected since March on charge that they are ‘filthy’.

The rejected consignment belongs to, among others, MR Overseas (Delhi), Keshav Exports (Bangalore), New Bharat Rice Mills (Punjab), Evergreen Exports (Mumbai), Basic India and Bhanu Foods India (both from Delhi). Trade sources said approximate quantity of rejected consignment of a single exporter is about 20 tonnes. They said for many of them, this was their maiden exports to US."
