India: Rice Procurement Up 13.48% On Year: "India’s rice procurement during the current season is estimated to be 284.91 lakh MT as against the overall procurement of 251.07 lakh MT in 2006-2007, representing an increase of 13.48% over the previous year.
Till 11th February, a quantity of 217.68 lakh MT of rice has been procured in the current 2008-09 season as against 183.99 lakh MT of rice procured during corresponding period in last year."
